Your piece does read like something I might enjoy. I know Herefordshire quite well and am often down your way; me coming from Shropshire

Though not of peasant stock as far as I know, I started my ‘working life’ on my best friend’s Dad’s farm at about age 6 mucking out the pigs and stacking stooks at harvest. Subsequently as a teenager and student I worked as a farm labourer in Norfolk on a farm with 13 hands. As an adult I worked on the harvest in the summer on a farm in Worcestershire on the Herefordshire border for many year and did winter work like hedge laying and drystone walling. I have therefore always had an affinity with the land and how to respect it and the wildlife it can support. I am a practicing artist and my work is primarily concerned with environment and my materials sourced responsibly from my local environment.
